Your kids were magic
Curious, shy, silly, playful, loud, thoughtful. All of it. I photographed each child exactly how they showed up.
Some relaxed into a quiet chat. Some climbed trees and laughed with their mates. Some gave me one beautiful expression and that was all they needed. Nothing was forced. Nothing was rushed. It was all child-led, easy, and genuinely joyful. I left feeling so energised and so grateful to have spent the morning with them.
I know these photos look a little different from the usual school portrait experience, and that’s very intentional. I’m not a sit still, chin up, “smile please” photographer. I don’t ask kids to be quiet or perfect. I don’t smooth every hair or chase expressions that don’t belong to them.
Kids are wild and wonderful. They carry quirks and stories and moods and beauty that can’t be squeezed into a standard pose. Asking them to perform a version of themselves that isn’t real has never sat right with me.
As a mum, I don’t want polished versions of my own children either. A forced smile and a brushed fringe doesn’t remind me of who they are. I want to remember their spark, their softness, their chaos, their calm, their tiny details. Their real selves.
That’s why I photograph the way I do. So you can look back and see your child exactly as they were that day, not an edited performance.
Your children gave me so much. The stories. The jokes. The quiet thinkers. The hat wearers. The big laughers. The gentle ones who opened up slowly. Every single one of them showed me something genuine and beautiful.

ABOUT YOUR GALLERY
Each class has one shared gallery.
This was the best way to honour the natural flow of the morning.
We weren’t lining kids up with numbered spreadsheets, or forcing anything.
We moved, we played, we chatted, and I followed the energy of each child.
This means you’ll see:
• Your child’s portraits
• Your child interacting with their friends
• Tree climbing, laughing, moving, exploring
• All the tiny moments that happen naturally when kids are relaxed
• A real sense of the class as a whole
Every child is represented differently.
Some children were drawn to quiet moments and conversations.
Others came alive in movement, laughing with their friends and enjoying the full experience.
Both are perfect. Both reflect who they genuinely were that day.
Because the session was free-flowing and child-led, individual student galleries weren’t an option without disrupting the experience.

How to Care For Your Images
I’ll forever stand by this, the best way to keep your memories safe is to print them.
There’s nothing like seeing a beautiful image on your wall every day, or flipping through a photo album with the kids and reliving those moments together. It turns digital files into something real, something lasting.
Of course, you don’t have to print every image (though you could...), so here are a few easy ways to keep your digital files safe:
Back them up in a few places – your computer, a USB, your phone.
Use cloud storage – something like Google Drive or Dropbox adds an extra layer of security.
Name and organise them – trust me, “IMG_8732_final_final_v2” won’t mean much in five years.
Digital is handy, but print is forever. Don’t let your memories live on a hard drive you forgot to back up—print what you love and make it part of your everyday life. Scroll down to find out how!
