Emotive family photography, full of colour, life and connection.
I photograph the kind of moments that tell the real story of your family. The cuddles. The chaos. The little hands wrapped around yours. The way your child looks at you when they forget the camera is there.
My work is grounded in connection, trust, respect, and a lot of laughter.
That matters, especially with children. They do not need to perform for me. They do not need to sit perfectly still or smile on command. I give them space to settle, play, explore, and be themselves.
That is where the good stuff lives.
If you feel camera shy, you are in very safe hands. You do not need to know what to do. I will gently guide you when it helps, then step back when the real moments start to unfold.
Sessions are relaxed, warm, and full of movement. We might chat, laugh, chase toddlers, cuddle babies, or wander around the farm while the kids find their feet.
The goal is not a perfect version of your family.
It is an honest one.

The days can feel full and loud and ordinary, then suddenly you look back and realise everything has shifted.
That is why I photograph families the way I do.
Not stiff.

Not everyone grinning at the camera because someone bribed them in the car.
I want you to have photographs that feel like your people.
The cuddles, the chaos, the soft bits, the wild bits, and the love that sits underneath it all.

Aisling O’Brien Photography is based on our working farm in Helensville, just north-west of Auckland.
This place shapes so much of the way I work. There is space here for children to warm up, explore, laugh, hide behind Mum for a minute, then come flying back when they are ready.
That relaxed pace matters.
I photograph families, newborns, maternity sessions and motherhood with a mix of gentle direction and room for real moments to unfold. Nothing stiff. Nothing forced. Just honest, connected images that feel like your people.
The studio is tucked inside our barn at the top of the hill, with soft natural light, simple backdrops, and the farm just outside when we want a bit of movement, texture, and fresh air.
It is calm, easy, and designed for families who want beautiful photographs without the awkward performance.
