Auckland Newborn Photography That Feels Real

Relaxed, baby-led newborn photos in my peaceful Helensville farm studio, no stiff posing, no pressure, just your baby exactly as they are.

Those first few weeks disappear faster than anyone warns you. The tiny curled-up sleeps, the impossibly small fingers, that newborn smell you wish you could bottle.

Book a calm, unhurried newborn session in my North West Auckland studio and hold onto this fleeting season forever.

Feeling overwhelmed at the thought of a newborn photoshoot?

You’ve just had a baby. You’re running on broken sleep and cold cups of tea. And now you’re supposed to get everyone dressed, out the door, and smiling for photos?

Maybe you’ve seen those highly-styled newborn shoots — babies in baskets, posed into pretzel shapes — and thought, that’s not us.

Maybe you’re worried baby will cry the whole time, or need feeding every twenty minutes, or that your toddler will refuse to cooperate entirely.

Here’s the thing: all of that is completely normal. And none of it is a problem in my studio.

Because the newborn stage doesn’t wait. In a few short weeks, that curled-up squishiness is gone — and there’s no getting it back.

A newborn session that runs on your baby's schedule, not mine

I'm a mum of three, and I remember the fog of those first weeks vividly.

That's why my newborn sessions are completely baby-led. We set aside 3–3.5 hours — not because we need that long to shoot, but so there's unlimited time for feeds, cuddles, nappy changes, and settling. No rushing. No pressure. If baby needs a break, we take a break.

My farm studio in Helensville is warm, calm and fully equipped — with everything from wraps and layers to a comfy feeding chair. You just bring your baby. I've got the rest.

And I don't pose babies into positions they'd never naturally curl into. I capture your baby as they actually are — sleepy stretches, tiny yawns, wrinkled feet — and the way you hold them. Because in ten years, that's the photo that will undo you: not the basket, the belonging.

What you'll walk away with

Photos that look like your baby, not a prop. Natural colours, gentle light, real moments. The kind of newborn photos that still feel true in twenty years.

You, in the photos. Not just baby solo shots — you holding them, your partner's hands around theirs, siblings leaning in for a kiss. The whole story of your growing family.

A calm, cared-for experience. From styling help before the session to gentle guidance on the day, everything is designed around one very small, very important person's needs — and yours.

Artwork, not just files. Framed prints, handcrafted albums, keepsakes for the generations. Your baby's first photos deserve better than a forgotten folder.

How your newborn session works

Step 1 — Book while you're pregnant (or just after!)

The best window for curly, sleepy newborn photos is the first 5–21 days, so ideally we pencil in a date around your due date and stay flexible. Baby arrived already? Don't worry — beautiful sessions happen at any age.

Step 2 — Relax, everything's prepared

You'll get my full newborn prep guide, styling support, and access to my client wardrobe (yes, for you too — you'll be in these photos). On the day, arrive at the studio and exhale. Feed, cuddle, and let me handle the rest.

Step 3 — Relive it all

A few weeks later you'll receive a custom slideshow of your gallery. Choose your favourites and how you'd love to keep them — digitals, albums, framed art, or all of the above.

Kind words from newborn families

"Our newborn shoot with Aisling was such a fun and easy experience. She made our family feel so comfortable and was such a natural with our kids. We were so impressed with how the photos turned out; we will treasure these forever and can't wait to hang some on our walls. Aisling is so talented and we will definitely book her again in the future." — Tash

Meet your Auckland newborn photographer

(Aisling — pronounced Ashling, it's very Irish)

I'm a mum to three free spirits, living on a farm in the wild west of Auckland. I know exactly how those newborn weeks feel — the exhaustion, the awe, the sense that time is somehow both crawling and sprinting.

Years ago, my own maternity shoot experience was stiff, uncomfortable and nothing like me. It's why I built my studio to be the opposite: relaxed, warm, unposed, and centred entirely around how you actually feel in those first weeks.

Families leave my studio saying it felt easy — like they just spent a gentle morning with their baby, and somehow walked away with the most beautiful photos they own.

Your newborn session investment

Session fee: $275 — locks in your date and covers your fully guided baby-led session, styling support, client wardrobe access, prep guide, professional editing, and your custom gallery slideshow.

Image collections from $775 — choose after you've seen your gallery. Most families invest between $1,000–$3,500 in framed wall art, luxury albums, digital files and keepsakes.

Newborn photography FAQs

When should I book my newborn session?

Ideally during pregnancy — I hold tentative dates around your due date. The sweet spot for sleepy, curled-up photos is 5–21 days old, but gorgeous sessions happen at any age. If your baby is already weeks (or months!) old, get in touch anyway.

How long does a newborn session take?

Allow 3–3.5 hours. Sessions are entirely baby-led — we pause for feeds, changes and cuddles whenever needed. Actual shooting time is much shorter; the rest is buffer so no one ever feels rushed.

Where do newborn sessions happen?

In my warm, fully-equipped farm studio in Helensville, North West Auckland — an easy drive from most of Auckland. In-home newborn sessions are also available if you'd rather not travel (10am is the magic hour).

Do you pose babies?

Gently and safely, yes — but only in natural positions. No pretzel poses, no props your baby has to be squeezed into. Baby's comfort and safety always come first.

Can siblings and pets be included?

Absolutely. Sibling photos are often the most treasured of the whole gallery. Chaos welcome — I have three kids of my own.

What should we wear?

You'll get my full style guide plus access to my client wardrobe. Everything's designed to feel soft, cohesive and timeless.

What if baby cries or won't settle?

Then we cuddle, feed, and wait. That's exactly why sessions are unhurried and baby-led. There is no version of a crying baby that stresses me out — I promise.

Do you photograph newborns across all of Auckland?

Yes — families come to my Helensville studio from across Auckland, and in-home sessions are available city-wide.

This season is short. The photos are forever.

In a few weeks, the curled-up newborn stage will be a memory. Let's make sure you can hold onto it.
